BALLET

Highly formalized steps and gestures created to build the most important foundation in a dancer’s education. This style focuses on abdominal control, body alignment, proper placement, strengthening, flexibility and injury prevention. Ballet is the foundation for all dance, and we strongly encourage each of our students to include ballet in their dance curriculum.

COntemporary

A series of athletic, sweeping movements, isolations, and grounded steps formulated from the Graham and Horton technique. Dancers practice a movement style and quality that will show great benefits in various other styles. Taking a ballet class appropriate to level is highly encouraged for this style.

JAZZ

An upbeat, high energy and sassy style. Using its foundations of ballet to create shapes through dance. Isolations of the chest, hips, arms and flexibility are used to cultivate this unique and fun style.

TAP

Percussive dance is one of the oldest forms of human expression. Tap dance is America’s contribution to the evolution of this ancient art. The Center for Dance is proud to teach a tap curriculum that honors heritage and trains dancers in correct technique and intricate rhythms.
